Hong Kong Airport: Plaza Premium Lounge – Review

  • Post published:January 17, 2025

If you’ve got extra time at Hong Kong Airport, or are planning whether the lounge is worth showing up extra for, let’s dine together at the Plaza Premium Lounge!

I had access to this lounge through my Priority Pass membership, which is included with my Capital One Venture X credit card. If you’re a frequent international traveler, I highly recommend getting a credit card with lounge access – and Capital One Venture X is one of the best, if not the cheapest, credit card with an extensive lounge membership. You can read the full review and learn more about the benefits about the card in my post below:

Without the card, I would not personally pay out of pocket for the lounges – the prices vary, but typically lounge access can be as expensive as $50-100 USD per person for a 2 hour stay. 🤯 With the Venture X, you get lounge access and can bring up to 2 guests who have a valid departing boarding pass.

Location

There are 3 Plaza Premium lounges at Hong Kong Airport, as of December 2024 (when I visited). The Hong Kong Airport is very large – everything is in one terminal with one security gate entrance. As there are Plaza Premium lounges located at Gates 1, 35, and 60, you should go to the one closest to your flight’s gate. The lounge at Gate 1 was extremely busy, with a line out the door, because that’s the one closest once you pass security.

I had ample time before my flight, and the gate was not yet assigned to my flight yet, so I decided to walk all the way to the lounge near Gate 35 – this was at least a 15-20 minute walk once you clear security.

The lounge at Gate 35, since it was further, was not crowded at all. The service was great – used dishes were cleaned frequently, and the food was never not filled.

Food options

Overall rating: Highly recommended. I would show up early to HKIA to go to the lounge. I would be happy to have a connection in HKIA to go to the lounge too!

This Plaza Premium lounge had to be one of the best lounges I’ve been to – and definitely a top quality Plaza Premium lounge! There was a wide variety of food, and every single dish I had tasted good. There are quite a few vegetarian options, and clear allergen labeling.

Here’s what was being served that day:

Mini pineapple bun with custard
Rice and vegetarian mapo tofu
Roasted vegetables; Hong Kong style rice noodle rolls (sweet, peanut, soy, and chili sauce were provided on the side)
Mixed nuts, mentos, butter cookies
Braised beef with onion in black pepper sauce; xiamen fried vermicelli
Tea eggs; buttered corn
