penang’s best kopi peng, in a retro coffeeshop ☕️💞

📍Starbright Coffee
Georgetown, Penang, Malaysia

“kopi peng” is the local name for iced coffee with condensed milk. Due to the bean roasting and preparation process, Malaysian coffee has a robust flavor and dark, rich chocolately color. The kopi peng at Starbright Coffee was super smooth and ridiculously delicious 😋

You can experience head to toe cherry blossoms at this bridge in Seoul!

📍서울숲꽃사슴방사장

This bridge is located in Seoul Forest, which is further out in the Seongsu area. Seoul Forest has lots of spring flowers and cherry blossom lined paths.

However, my favorite spot is this footbridge. This is the best place for cherry blossoms as you can be fully immersed in the cherry blossom trees!

Check out my last reel if you want another incredible cherry blossom spot that is easier to get to in the Hapjeong area.

My #1 recommended spot for Seoul cherry blossoms 🌸

Save this post if you’re visiting Seoul during cherry blossom season💞

📍 희우정로
Naver link on my blog:
globalclaire.com/seoul-cherry-blossom

This street is a short walk away from the Hapjeong subway station, and is a long street filled with trees so it doesn’t feel crowded at all.

I recommend going before sunset, so you can see the day view of these cherry blossoms. Get some dinner then head back to this street at night which offers a completely different vibe as the cherry blossoms get illuminated underneath the street lights.

This is close to Hongdae and Mangwon so even if you go when the cherry blossoms aren’t at peak bloom, you will still have plenty to do around the area.

Highly recommended durian spot if you are in Kuala Lumpur! The staff is very knowledgeable and honest.
You can find also find super unique souvenir: a keychain containing a (real) durian. These are durians that fell off the tree before it could develop into a full size durian. So cute!! 🥰

Vegetarian cheap/budget eats in Hong Kong🌱🇭🇰

There are quite a few Chinese veg & dim sum restaurants in HK, however most have a service charge + tea charge on top of each (main) dish already costing 80-100+ HKD each. Here’s what I ate in HK that is budget friendly!

Locations below ⬇️ Where to see Hong Kong’s Locations below ⬇️ Where to see Hong Kong’s remaining neon signs in Mongkok

📌Save this post to visit the remaining neon lighted signs while you still can!
Locations from first few clips:
📍Changsha & Portland St
📍Argyle & Portland St
📍Wo Hing Victory Mahjong

🎥 All clips taken with @osmo_global DJI Osmo Pocket 3. The low light performance is quite amazing 🥰

Most of Hong Kong’s neon lights have been taken down or replaced with LEDs due to government safety regulations. Although the streets of Hong Kong may not look the same as they did in the 70s, or even a decade ago, with some searching, there’s are a few lighted signs you can hunt for on and around Nathan Road/in the Mongkok area.

Unique Hong Kong Souvenir: Cha Chaan Teng Cup If Unique Hong Kong Souvenir: Cha Chaan Teng Cup

If you want to recreate the CCT aesthetic at home, you can pick up a CCT style cup and saucer set while in Hong Kong!

📌Save this post for travel planning and follow @globalclaire for more travel finds 💓

Most cha chaan tengs use the Black & White brand cup. (Black & White is the condensed milk/evaporated milk brand most CCTs in Hong Kong use)
This is cheapest and easiest to find at:
📍Shanghai St
Most stores have a sign for it outside or have it on display. Depending on the style, it will cost 50 - 119 HKD. Since all the restaurant supply stores are next to each other, you can compare from different stores before buying.

Fun fact: when my family went to HK many years ago and I asked them to get me the cups, they had to beg CCT owners to sell them a set because Shanghai St didn’t sell them at the time. 😅

📍Hak Dei
This store will have the red/green rimmed cups that are the second most-used in CCTs after the Black & White brand cups. It is 24 HKD for a set.

📍Temple St Night Market
The stall selling Black & White brand cups are more expensive here, but you can find other CCT items that I haven’t seen anywhere else! The tumbler that I got is from a limited edition release. I think the uncle who runs the stall is there everyday except Wednesday.
